Other birds' events

Spring Alive is a new educational project for Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds (UzSPB) participates in it from 2012. It’s realizing in 46 countries of the world to join children and adults to watch spring migration.
In the framework of another project «Eco dates» UzSPB celebrates some ecological events related to bird migrations and their return from wintering. UzSPB organizes excursions, birdwatching activities in city and nature, educational campaigns for children and adults.
If you find the idea of Spring Alive project interesting we invite you also to participate in celebration of two other ecological dates of spring related to bird migrations. You can find short descriptions of these events below.
International Bird Day
International Bird Day is celebrating on April 1. It is one of the oldest dates of ecological calendar. In 2012 this ecological date was celebrated for 110 times. First ecological event of April with centenarian history invariably has its object to bring up young generation to love and take care of wild birds.
In our country tradition of Bird Day celebration is continued by Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds. In 2012 educational activities and birdwatching events organized in this day covered Tashkent, Samarkand, Fergana regions of Uzbekistan as well as Karakalpakstan and involved more than 400 children, students and grown-ups.

World Migratory Bird Day
World Migratory Bird Day is a global, annual awareness campaign to promote the conservation of migratory birds and their habitats worldwide. It is organized by the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and the African-Eurasian Migratory Waterbird Agreement (AEWA) - two international wildlife treaties administered by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). This ecological date is celebrating in the weekend of the second week of May.
Events to mark WMBD 2012 took place in 70 countries, including bird festivals, education programmes, presentations, film screenings and bird watching trips, run by hundreds of volunteers and organizations.
World Migratory Bird Day is celebrating in Uzbekistan from 2011 by staff and members of UzSPB. In 2012 educational activities and birdwatching events to mark WMBD took place in Tashkent, Samarkand regions of Uzbekistan and in Karakalpakstan. Totally more than 100 people participated in these days in WMBD events in Uzbekistan. Most of them are representatives of young generation.

Everybody who wishes can participate in Spring Alive project and in other spring campaigns and festivals. To be informed about planning activities and participate efficiently you can become a member of Uzbekistan Society for the Protection of Birds.
